East Lincoln Cemetery Tour
The morning was cool, overcast, and breezy. Just the sort of weather one might anticipate in a spooky cemetery scene on a fall day. The stories that were shared were anything but cold. On Saturday, October 3rd we were delighted to join the Amery Historical Society on a tour of the East Lincoln Cemetery accompanied by a guide with close ties to the history of the site.
Jo Bodenner Kiel and Wayne Tanner shared a number of stories from the lives of the people who are buried at the East Lincoln Cemetery. The families who founded the community more than 100 years ago remain close to this day. The legacy of supporting ones neighbors has carried through generations. When one neighbor’s barn burned down another stepped up to share their milking stalls. Makes one think; how can we step up today to help our neighbors? How can we build a community to last through generations?

Don and Denise provided reflective poetry selections between sites while Maggie played violin pieces through the tour.
The Amery Area Historical Society has done marvelous work to preserve and share the history of the Amery area. Very special thank you to Heather Wiarda for inviting us to join the Amery Area Historical Society in another local cemetery tour. Please check out their website at ameryhistory.org if you would like to learn more about what they have to offer.
We look forward to more opportunities to connect with our community through the arts.
